I was in your situation about 25 years ago with my street/track car. I had little funds and did not yet have enough dough for a big car/truck and trailer. In the midst of a refresh of my screaming 2.45, We found a set of pistons very cheap, but they were very high compression.
So Hank did twin plug machining while the heads were apart and I assembled everything using many (can't remember number, but many) copper cylinder shims to get a street-able Ratio. Ran that happily for a season, then dropped the engine, but still under car. Spent a day removing chains and loosening head nuts and such to permit backing off of the cylinder about 15mm. Just enough to get a cutter in there to remove the shims and then re assemble. Found a good deal on a used electromotive and was ecstatic about the project. |
