I used green viton o rings and motor oil for lubricant both times. This seems to have been a installation issue. We used a stomski tool to slide the oring past the threads and then used the rounded heel of a pick to slide them off the tool and onto the bolt. The first time we did it we just slid them off and figured that was good. One got pinched and became torn when installing and torquing the nuts down. The second time we did the same but after sliding the oring off the tool we used the tool to set the oring back slightly so we were sure it was off the threads. We were careful not to push it too far in. We didn't like the way a few set in, so we did those over.

Advice to newbies, buy extra o rings, its good too have a second set worth. They are cheap.
