Inserts on a 2.7, 7R Mag case?
So this is from my case with one of the studs removed. Trying to determine if it has had inserts installed. The head studs are steel and it is a 7R Mag case. The book is not entirely clear (to me) on if the studs can be reused. What I have drawn is that the steel studs in a 7R case should be left alone if they have not pulled. I also have one stud that is in 5.21mm farther than the rest, Any thoughts. It has "Nickies" if that should factor.
Thanks again to everyone. I will be posting picks of my progress for others new to this rebuild thing, could be helpful... ![]() ![]() |

The inserts into the case would be magnetic and you would want to install dilivar, or the like to run with the aluminum cylinders.
Dont throw the studs away, I can use them. Bruce |

Used studs to me are like buying a cut rate cheap parachute!
You can...but you should not. Older studs have been flexed a bunch...how many times? I like the security of KNOWING what is inside...saves a lot of $$ in the long run. Bob

Use your head and use the SEARCH feature. There are more posts on that subject than almost any other.

There is SO much information on studs they guy could read for ever.
Last i knew steel was the way to go. ARP is a over kill for most situations .

After all these years, case savers would be a good idea, and Dilivar has proven to be more of a problem than a blessing.
Original steel, ARP, or Supertec studs are all good ideas, just how much do you want to pay.
