What to build....

Caveat: I know enough to be dangerous, and occasionally useful.
I rebuilt the top end on my current 964 3.6L engine.
Which has been the engine I have used for a few years now.

When I acquired my RSR it had a 964 block that had been bored to fit 3.8 jugs.
The 3.8 jugs are ok, but the piston clearance are beyond spec.
P.O. said it had piston slap and they also melted the heads.

The 3.8 had a 993 head setup, which I I have since had reformed and fire ringed.
I don't specifically remember the cam it had in there -- either 964 or 993. It has the 993 rocker arms. I have a 3.6 crank.

I've been running a street 964 3.6L engine in my RSR Replica.

I've got ITBs and a motec engine management setup for crank fire.

I am considering running PCA club racing with my weight and 3.6L
that puts me in GT3 -- and usually on track with the Cup Cars.

I spend as much time driving my rear view mirrors as out the front.

I'm thinking of rebuilding the 3.8 down to a 3.4 or 3.5 which would put me in GT4.

I'd like to build it up for a significant uplift in RPMs.

Everything I do has a budget -- so I'm interested in suggestions
on what options I might have to reliably get to 9K rpms max with sustained
8-8.5K rpm. I'd like to be in a reliable 325-350 to the wheels range on pump gas
or E85.

What bearings, what valves, what springs and retainers should I use.
Should I be looking at a different CAM setup?
Where should I source my jugs/pistons. What C/R?

thoughts and guidance are greatly appreciated.

thank you,

Mike
