#6 con rod internal interference (oil pump)?? PICS
Hi y'all. #6 con rod does not move all the way across the spigot. The lower bearing cap is hitting on the oil pump. I can see that in the pics the wrist pin bushing is past the centerline of the motor, but I want to know for sure if this is normal. Thanks in advance.

Unless you changed to a very large oil pump the clearance On the 4 web pump should be good. You do have to keep the rod on the horizontal.

What about the level of corrosion on the upper head studs? Is that worrisome?

If yous think these should be replaced, let me know. I am ordering new exhaust studs so I will be able to get them at the same time. The threads look good on the studs. Cheers.

The upper head studs are steel and pretty much never break. Many many people who have done top ends and full rebuilds have replaced only the lower dilavar studs (with steel) and the original upper studs still remain fine.

I Had to clearance two or three spots on my oil pump when I stroked the crank. It wasnt much, but it had to be done... nothing to it...

It will bind... back the crank off a little and wiggle the rod as you move forward and it should clear just fine. Hopefully you have seen the "rubber band trick," give it a try.
