PMO Carb Installation

Hi Guys,

I am installing the PMO kit on my 1978 3.0 liter 911SC engine. From the fuel distribution / pressure control manifold there are two fuel lines going to the two carbs. There is a canister type in line filter to be installed in each line. These canisters look like a little beer barrel with fittings coming out of each end. Are these uni-directional or must they be installed in a certain direction? There is a little black paint dot at one end of each filter.

Other goodies on the engine:
SSI HEX
Web Cams, Solex grind
9.5 to 1 compression ratio domed J&E pistons.
Re curved dizzy
MSD ignition

Thanks in advance for the help.

John

Are these the kind you can not see into (sounds like it). They would be directional and the fuel has to flow through the element filtering inside. You can ask Richard @ PMO. The clear ones you can tell which way.

I can not see through these looking into the tubes. Maybe the black dot indicates flow direction?

Probably a generic filter that Richard sources from somewhere. But i'll bet its made in USA.

If they're the type i'm thinking of, it's most likely a disc-style filter element like these from BAT. They really aren't directional when you consider how low the pressure is- 3 psi.

I'll be installing PMO carbs on my 3.0 as soon as the engine comes back from the builder (hopefully in the next few weeks). If you have some photos to post of the installation, I'm sure I'd learn a lot from you!

My bad. Faintly stamped on one end of each filter is the word " OUT ". I missed this. Unfortunately it also says " Made in China " on them.

Excellent installation and tuning instructions come with the kit and a person should have no trouble with the installation.
