Cam type and tool needed 3.0

Hi guys,

Heres a pics of a 78 3.0 Im tearing down

What tool do I need to remove this cam gear and cam?
I removed a 19mm bolt from the center of the gear but I thought there would be the 46 mm that required the crows foot?

Thanks for the help

Looks like a previous owner did a cam swap at some point - if you had a 19mm bolt-head, you won't need the crow's foot. You will however need a different specialized tool to reinstall ...

For now though, the gear should slide off the end of the cam, after which it's a pretty straightforward process to remove the cam.

Jiggle and wiggle and that big gear should slide forward off the camshaft.

If the engine is level to the ground it can be a good idea to stuff a wadded up paper towel under the chain where it goes into the case so the little key thats in the groove on the cam doesn't fall and bounce in there when you pull the sprockets off the end of the cam.

Since the tensioners are removed this should simply slide out. You will need tool P9191 to re-install.

Garage
Unscrew the tip of a spark plug and insert it into the pin that is at the about 5:30 position on the sprocket. This will allow you to remove the sprocket and continue on with your teardown.
