Case gasket ID
I am preassembling my 3.0 and I am unsure about some of the gaskets in my case gasket set.
![]() #2 I believe are the small case bolt washers #4 are the o-rings for the long through bolts but after putting them on all of the bolts there are still 10 left over #5 Strange that there are only 3 of these #6 I thought these were the crush washers for the long through bolts but the ear are only 8 of them ![]() ![]() Thanks, Tom

$50 center case gaskets
1. Is the chain rails pins 2. Is outer perimeter of case. Uses steel 4 is cross through bolts. 24 necessary 13 inside distributor 14. Around 8 bearing 15. Thermostat seal 16. Carrera intermediate shaft cover. Sc doesn't use Bruce |

Left to ID:
#5 #6 #7 #8 #9 #10 #11 #12 Also, where do the 24 o-rings go? There are 11 long through bolts that each get one and three additional bolts with the beveled washer and acorn nuts. That equals 14 so where do the remaining 10 go? Tom

Two o-rings go on each through bolt. One on the bolt end and one under the beveled washer on the acorn nut end. Same thing with the other three beveled washers on the studs.

6 could be the chain rail pins..fit them to see
I don't use many of the aluminum crush Some will seal the oil lines and pressure switch to the cams, behind the 30 mm oil scavenge connector, the drain for the oil, the pressure reliefs. All the larger seals are just the right size to fit application. Bruce |

8 and 9 look like the ones for the oil tank and engine drain plugs. I've always been able to reuse those a bunch of times before they get too squished.
10 might be for the thermotime switch if you have CIS. |

Case breather uses. 4 waves washers and regular nuts as does the thermostat uses 2.
Intermediate shaft is only 3 nuts. That should use nyloc and regular washers but maybe crush would work. I don't try to use all supplies washers..got a whole dish of leftovers when I need them. Bruce |

11 looks the same size as 8 and only thing I can think of right now for those is the oil tank drain plug.
12 looks like the same size as 10 just copper instead of aluminum. CIS motors have a thermotime switch in the top left corner of the left chain case cover that opens the cold start injector/valve under the throttle body while the starter motor is cranking the motor when it's around 55 degrees or colder out. It has a 12 volt heater element inside that heats up while doing that so if the car doesn't start it will disable itself and stop opening the cold start fuel injector so it doesn't flood the motor out if the motor won't start and someone keeps cranking it over and over on the starter motor. On my 3.3 CIS motor there is a simple temperature sending unit in the top right corner of the right side chain case. It disables the lamba emission system when the motor is cold so the lambda doesn't try to lean the motor out too much right after a stone cold start. Cars without lambda may have a plug threaded in there instead. Anyway, copper washers probably conduct heat a little better than aluminum ones so if there is a temp sensor in the top right corner of the right chain case cover maybe 12 is for that one and 10 might be for the thermotime switch. |
