My head is spinning, help me sort this out.
I am building a 2.7. I have all the manuals, Tutorials, Books, Spec Guides, etc. I read and read, and read.
I liked the "Complete Sealant Thread" - Henry's list makes it easy. It is hard to believe it takes so many sealants to do a case, but everyone makes good arguments. Now I am on to the gaskets and seals. I bought the Reintz complete kit, and I see it has the blue case bolt o rings. Well, that won't do, will it? So I just ordered the green Vitons. My long winded question is, "What others case seals are not quite the preferred, and what should I be ordering?" Basically it is the crank and flywheel seal I am worrying about, based on todays availability. Thanks John

Send the Reinz kit back unless you already opened it. Get the Wrightwood kit from EBS, Supertec, Steve W, etc.

If you're asking about the rear main seal, you're fine. Just make sure you install it straight!

The rear main seal can be red or black? Any difference? Also the #8 bearing o ring looks like crap compared to old one I removed.
I wish I had seen the Wrightwood kit beforehand. John

+1000 on the Wrightwood kit. The kit I received for my 2.7 was excellent; it was easily the MOST complete gasket kit I have ever seen for an engine rebuild. I'm over a year past my rebuild with that kit and following the guidance from the engine sealant thread and I have zero leaks.

At the risk of being "flamed", I have two years on my 2.8 twin spark motor. Built using a Reinz gasket set with blue case o rings, zero leaks.
Just careful surface prep' ( flat and clean), deburring of all holes and proper use of sealant. Just sayin' |

Had a Reinz kit for complete rebuild 2011. Done by a "professional". Still not a single drop of oil from the engine. not driven very much though.
