Turbo 3.3L Build - new pistons?
How much power/boost can OEM 930 pistons safely handle?
We are going for at least 450WHP and 1.2bar boost. Stock C/R. Thanks!

From experience I've found the mahle pistons better than most aftermarket as long as you can live with the lower compression. Great C/R for a high boost application as well.

I've heard of people making 600HP with stock 3.3 pistons and cylinders using E85 fuel and more than 1.2bar boost with a single turbo. 3.3 Mahle's are forged.
A friend recently got some new Mahle motor sports 3.4 liter 7.5:1 compression pistons and cylinders for his new motor build. The cylinders are fully finned and the domed pistons are thicker around the wrist pin boss. There are valve reliefs cut into the domes and the skirts have a black coating on them. The bottom edges and insides of the pistons looked like they were polished smooth. They are beautiful as far as pistons go... |
