Been really pleased with mine but haven't put a ton of time on it. It's probably got about 10 hrs. on it. Nonetheless its saved me a lot of manual cleaning. Money well spent so far. I hope it continues to work well because I have a bunch more things to clean and another 911 car coming to stay with me that'll put the ultrasonic to work
|
Wow you got the big one to do the whole car!

I still have mine cause I didn't wanna ship it. They gave a partial refund. How can I fix it?
|
You can buy ultrasonic transducers (assuming that is what's wrong) on ebay or amazon. Might be able to pull it apart and find the problem. Hopefully the transducers are able to be removed from the tank without trouble.
|
Nothing to lose at this point, I would take it apart and see if the 8 year old missed something that came loose...
|
nice, I used a Branson 8510 years ago on my rebuild and loved it.

Amazon.com has a number of ultrasonic cleaners in various sizes. Here's one for about a hundred dollars less, but it's pretty small; others to choose from: http://www.amazon.com/Kendal-Commercial-ULTRASONIC-CLEANER-HB-36MHT/dp/B00L9F37JQ/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1444668390&sr=8-18-spons&keywords=ultrasonic+cleaner&psc=1
Here's a bigger one for about the same price: http://www.amazon.com/FULL-SET-DSA140SE-GL2-ADJUSTABLE-PROFESSIONAL/dp/B00NFNJM3A/ref=sr_1_31?ie=UTF8&qid=1444668689&sr=8-31&keywords=ultrasonic+parts+cleaner Tom |
22L on fleabay. $292.90. I quote:
" High efficiency cleaning for teeny blot particles." "Perfect for cleaning the longhole, finedraw and shelter of piece part or workpiece, no need to touch cleaning fluid by your hands." OK. Same thing on amazon $246. |
I hate it when you get blot particles in your long hole.
|
Nothing penicillin won't take care of.
I cleaned every part of my recent 3.0 rebuild except the case in my ultrasonic cleaner and it worked great. Highly recommended. |
Is the 5 gallon size big enough for a case half? It isn't , is it?
|
I was able to fit 12 cans in there, but it turns out beer isn't a very good cleaning agent. On the other hand, clean up was delicious!

Did you ever figure out the problem? Did you loos all power or only some functions? I found with mine after about 30 hours the switch crapped out I think because of the heater function which is not very good, takes forever. I got a 220 heater out of a coffee pot at work and just toss it in the tank, heats up in no time then pull it out. I removed all the heater crap from mine, the board inside was getting a bit brown from the high draw on the small wires so put it some heave power wires, back in business: |
Here is my heater and a MK4 1.8 turbo head after in the cleaner.

Based on all the positive feedback here, I bought one of these units recently. I have to say that I have been very disappointed.
I purchased a Kendal Commercial Grade 27 Liter 900 Watts HEATED ULTRASONIC CLEANER HB27 off of Amazon about a month ago. This unit appears to be identical, except for the name, to the ones shown in this posting. This is the one I purchased http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1464899834.jpg I was pretty excited when the unit arrived based on all the results I had seen for parts cleaned ultrasonically. I had just completed disassembly of a pretty gunky 2.4 liter motor and decided to try the cam towers first. I laid one cam tower in the tray, filled the tank with hot tap water, added a cup of Simple Green, set the heater to 50 deg C, waited until the temp reached 60 deg C and set a 45 min cycle. Lots of noise but after 45 minutes no cleaning at all. I contacted the domestic rep, New Shining Image (NSI), via email and they suggested they would send me a new circuit board. I insisted I wanted to return the unit and have them send me another one. They finally agreed and off it went back to Middletown, NY. In less than a week, another identical unit arrived and I set it up. This time it did do some cleaning of the cam tower but even after two 45 min cycles at 60 deg C, there was still caked on grease in the crevices of the cam tower. OK, not what I expected but better than slaving over the parts cleaner for 30m min. I cleaned a few other items, heads tin, small pieces. Nothing came out perfectly clean. Then, after about 10-15 cycles, the transducers quit. No cleaning action and no surface agitation in the tank. The unit still makes the same sounds as when it did do some cleaning. I contacted NSI again and will be returning the unit for a refund. I would still like to buy a different ultrasonic cleaner but my experience with this one makes me leary about buying another inexpensive Chinese unit. |
I have been running one of these for a couple days, cleaning everything. They are down to roughly $200. The first time I tried it with some dawn and simple green but it wasn't that doing the job then I reread this thread and man.. putting a 1/2 cup of dawn is the trick. That is a lot of soap but it really cleans things up.

Zep from ace hardware is really nice cleaner in the ultrasonic. Maybe too harsh for some things tho. It took the sink playing off a part the other day.

If so, thank you for the warning. It's good to know what not to use in cleaning parts so we don't damage them. |
Ultrasonic cleaning will remove zinc coatings and also anodizing. Be careful with it or watch it like a hawk.
|
Yes zink. sorry I have fat fingers
|
Zoe degreaser has a high pH level so on the aklyline range. Is is the opposite of acidic but equally as caustic. It definitely attacks zinc and anodizing.
Purple Power and SG in high concentration can be damaging. |
I have had mine for a few years and I'm very happy with my purchase. Although I wish I had gotten a bigger one
