				Reinstalling a Case Saver

So one of my case savers got pulled out when removing a head stud. Long story short, it got mangled. My machine shop is sending me a replacement case insert. I will be chasing/cleaning the threads before inserting but what is the best way to get it installed without a case saver install tool. My thought is to put a nut on the end of an old head stud and then screw that head stud into the new case saver. Then the nut will allow me to insert the case saver into the block. Pic below.....Workable? And how can I test fit it and remove before putting loctite on the case saver?

That looks like a winner to me, as long as the jam nut will release easily.

Just make sure the nut does not hit the case bore shoulder. Loctite and when you remove the insert tool after the case saver is set hit it quick or use an impact wrench to spin it out quick.

Here is the little homemade tool FWIW. 10x1.5 bolt with a sae bronze spacer from the Lowes bins. Spacer was tapped to not spin on the bolt as it was a tight fit. Nut and lock washer allowed me to release tension from insert so as to release friction and remove bolt after inserting. Nothing magic, but it worked well.
