Aluminum case?
If it were my motor, I would do a complete tear-down and make sure nothing else inside was mickeymoused. I imagine that could be repaired by an experienced PORSCHE welder/machinist.

It's a trap...

Bummer dude. I hope that can be fixed by weld build up and then parting line machining.

Looks lik and aluminum case, just continue your teardown and have it repaired by a knowledgible company like Ollie's. They can do Mag cases as well. I just finished a hot 3.0 only to discover that one of the engine mounting bolts in the rear was missing as a result of a broken boss. Guess that one will come down again.
Good luck, rusty

Yes it's aluminum fortunately. I plan on a full rebuild especially after finding this, now I'm not gonna sleep at night. I do know a master welder who welds on helicopters hopefully he might be able to help me, this just ruined my day. I guess I can post this over at the tech board under po poor repairs.

I would have a new thru bolt boss welded in, but set it up and fit it with the case bolted together, tack it then split it and finish both sides, machine it down.

Craig nailed it; its quite fixable and such things are SOP on these things. This isn't anything I'd lose a moments sleep over.

Well you absolutely need to split the case if you want to repair it. It isn't a big deal to split the case. You may want to check everything and replace the chains and a few other wear items. That part if the case may be a stud rather than a through bolt. Good luck, by the way, you will need a few special tools.

Budg et, case gaskets are about $60. And a tube of 574 for the centerline. Then you know what you bought when you can put your hands on it.

Try not, Do or Do not

Box it up and send it to us. I'm pretty busy right now but I'll squeeze you in.
The trick is not the welding but creating a flat surface when you're done. I even have an old case I can use the replace the missing flange.
