oil presure switch orientation ??

Hi Guys
I am getting mixed pictures on the web . is this the correct orientation for the block?or the flat side to the rear of the car?

Orientation......

Erick,

I was in similar quandary like you until I looked at some unopened engines. My first engine rebuild 18 years ago has the same set-up like yours and I was not sure which way it should be at that time. As you found out, it could be installed either way. But the two (2) engines in garage have the slant area facing inside. And I also noticed in other SC engines that the pressure sender is mounted at an angle (leaning towards the rear). That's probably the reason the slanted corner is facing inward.

I tried looking and then feeling around on my 82SC for how mine is fastened but couldn't tell. It's tight around there with the engine in the car. I did find a picture from my build and you can see where the bracket for the A/C compressor bolts to the case just forward of it, hence the sender is rotated backwards about 30 degrees from vertical to clear that bracket. That being said, I wouldn't tighten things up until you get the bracket on if you are running A/C. Hope that helps.

Yes the a/c braket need to be fitted first and I tilted the sensor

Here is a picture of my '86 engine, and it is similarly angled. While my '73 engine has a different set up, it also tilts the sending unit the same.
