What P/C to use on my 2.7 rebuild
My case and associated parts are back from the machinist, and I'm getting ready to have a blast. I'm debating using new (old stock from Zim's 15 years ago) CIS Alusil P/Cs that I have on hand, or... I've got a set of Nikasil P/Cs with shot pistons, but I think the cylinders are OK. Would I be better off just sticking with the Alusils, or have the Nikasil cylinders refreshed and fitted with JE Pistons and running a fairly mild (T or E) cam.
TIA. John.

Open it up to 2.8, JE 9.5 cr and a pair of solex cams. A set of CIS heads would breathe better than the T heads unless you're. Ported.

I would verify the condition of the Nikasil cylinders and, if ok, I'd go with them and JE 9.5:1 pistons, E-cams , headers and sport muffler. Makes a nice 2.7S street rod engine.
regards, al

Thanks, Al. Do you happen to know what grade of gas I need to run with those JE 9.5:1 Pistons?
John.

John,
I've had a couple of 2.7s in that state of tune (one of my favorite engine configurations..I just finished building one) and nothing special regarding the fuel. You don't need dual spark/plugs until you get over 10:1 or so......I just use premium unleaded, which is 89 octane at my gas station. ......listen to this one............. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWB99lddFew regards, Al
