Leak From Carrera Chain Tensioner Lines/Fitting

Hi,

I'm close to closing a deal on a 911 SC.

One issue it has is there is a small leak around one of the Chain Tensioner lines/fittings:



If you look at this picture from Pelican Parts, it's the black (flexible?) portion around top-centre in the picture. This part is leaking ... Not profusely, but still dripping.

The engine is otherwise running strong and has no leaks underneath.

Since I'm reasonably "handy", my initial instinct is try and fix it myself. How easy it is to replace this? Would I need to drain all the oil from the motor first?

Daniel - purchase the replacement part, and change the old one out. Crimp fittings on rubber hoses don't last forever. Putting in a new line is easy, and no need to drain oil. Maybe put a rag under things before loosening.

One thing not entirely obvious is to counterhold the fitting which goes through the large metal block (where the oil pressure sender is). That is a hollow bolt, so holding it right next to the nut on the line so that twisting the nut doesn't twist the hollow bolt is good insurance.

To expand on what Walt said... Common leak, easy part to change., no draining required. Cam oil line + crush washers and proper counter hold technique. The other side is a little harder because the distributor is in the way.
