Cam choice oppinions?
Hello, I'm building a motor based on an 3,0 SC motor. And I would like some expert opinions on my cam choices. I know this has been discussed, but would still like to hear experiences and recommendations from you all.
Motor specs: 3,0L Heads, '78 SC 39mm intake ports Ignition, Single plug, re-curved SC distributor Pistons, JE 9.5 to 1 ARP rod bolts CR, 9,7 to 1 Carbs, 40mm Webers Exhaust, '71 stock w/sport muffler Transmission, '72 915, stock gears Car, 71 911, 2300 lbs, with driver Use, 75% AutoX, 20% DE 91 octane gas I am after a broad flat torque curve. Not necessarily the ultimate in high end HP. My normal shift point would be 6500RPM, but would want to be able to go to ~7200RPM to save a shift. I am thinking something along the lines of a DC 35, DC 40, or DC 43. Thanks, ![]()

Give DRC A Call
Gordon,
Give John a call - I had similar goals and a similar build. He recommended the GT-2 102 cam profile. Couldn't be happier, torque comes on at a much lower RPM range as compared to stock (~185 ft lb @ 3,500 RPM equals neck snapping acceleration). Dyno Results - Gordo's 3.2L Good luck, Gordo

I was just re-reading your post. It is exactly what I am looking for. I see the GT2 turbo on his site, is that the one?
I have sent Dougtery.com two requests for info, but have not heard back. Thus my post. I guess my next step is to get on the phone if he doesn't chime in.

Web 120/104 would also be a good choice. Hot street and club racing, good idle and torque.

I was going to suggest those too. I have them in my racecar's engine and so did a friend in his 3.3L short stroke racecar engine.

I have EBS Racing's springs and Ti retainers and so did the 3.3L Original rockers refurbished with cgarr's low friction bushings. Redline is 7500. Both cars had Weber 46. Mine was a 3.2 short stroke

What is your maintenance schedule for your TI retainers? Do you ever replace them?

Not sure what a projected time-out is for the springs and retainers. My engine build is rather mild, so I planned on 120+ hours of sustained track driving.
Henry @ Supertec or chris_seven @ Fenn Lane would have a better answer than me!
