911E case
![]() I just found this on my 1973 911E case. Any recommendations if this is repairable and who is the best to do it. |

Doesn't look critical, I wouldn't do anything.

Might treat with grease/oil to stop corrosion. We spend a lot of time stopping the leaks for aesthetics and achieve lowering their natural immunity to corrosion.

Critical, no...but it certainly could become so down the line. I'd give a good cleaning with white spirits to drive out any moisture, buff it down with a non-ferrous wheel and give it a good soaking with something like Meguiar's. It will do nothing but get worse if you do, well, nothing.
Don't use ferrous based wheels or acid to clean. I believe PAG suggests protecting Mag surfaces where the protective barrier is degraded with Tectyl. You could also look at re-passivating the surface with chomic acid but I don't know if that's a good idea anywhere where on a joint. Apparently there are all types of Tecyl. Here are a couple from the Valvoline site that may apply: Tectyl ML Greenline - Aftermarket - Valvoline Tectyl Glashelder/Klar Spray - Aftermarket - Valvoline Tectyl Multipurpose Clear - Aftermarket - Valvoline
