964 Rear Main Seal Installation
Hmm..
i just installed the main seal using the factory tool... i used oil on the seal lip and crankshaft surface but made sure the inside of the case and outside of the seal were dry. Wound it in, till the seal is a smidge below the surface of the case. When I pulled the tool out, the "lip" of the seal protrudes ouwards. Is this correct? Does the rear main seal have a "dust lip" on the outside and the main part of the seal on the inside? I didn't think to take too much notice before installation... ![]() In this photo, see how the lip is poking forwards.. ![]() |
