Case is together!

Well it took almost 10 hours to complete with 3-5 people at any given point. (Including an hour for lunch and probably 90 minutes for philisophical questions and debates) but my case is together!

I especially wanted to thank Souk and Ray911s (and their wives/significant others) for staying for almost 9 HOURS to assist, and lend encouragement.

Thanks to Keith0. for helping install the crank too!

I'm happy with how it turned out! Souk took a ton of pictures untill his battery ran out. We'll post them later.

A few "fun moments".

1) We almost forgot the cam chains!
2) I overtoruqed the perimeter bolts by 7 lbs, oops.. But went back one-by-one and un-retorqued them properly.
3) We didn't open beer untill everything was triple checked.

THere were a few more amusing moments, but I'm way to braindead after 9 hours in the garage to share them all now...

THanks again guys, where else would on-line BBS, car guys, recent aquantences put 9 hours in to someone elses motor "just because." THANKS!

Wayne,

I'm not THAT slow...

We had the initial 50% torque completed in about 20 minutes and the final torque completed in 30 minutes. I'm pretty confident that it sealed well. We got a good consistent ooze-out from tightening the bolts around all the seams with no gaps...

Crank assembly

That's 10+ hours of cleaning that case. You COULD eat off it.

Factory approved engine case sling.

A very expensive Christmas tree

Flywheel seal

The crank is IN! (and those nifty rod holders too.

Factory cam chain device...

Yours truly. Mr. Goodcheer! Notice the red Duct-tape "flags" where I wanted to make sure we didn't forget to torque something...

We did it...

It's Guiness time!

What kinda flywheel you got there HotRod?

Maybe you don't need to worry about that flywheel seal either.

Looking at your picture, it looks to be at full depth?

Hey kevin...

It's a modified stock flywheel actually... Just lightened "a bit"

The seal was at full depth in the picture, but it pushed out a bit when we were sealing the case...

Thanks Wayne. You were obviously very adamant about his in your book, so I cleaned it to the "white glove" point. Last thing I wanted was some stray material burning up a bearing or blocking a squirter.

I also used your rubber hose trick to help blow out the piston squirters, worked like a charm.
