Cams for wedge shaped Max Moritz 3.2

I'm considering new cam options for my 3.2SS.

I'm aware of the many threads about this topic, but quite frankly the options seem endless and have got me confused a bit.

Background:

I believe this is a "genuine" Max Moritz engine, which means 98mm wedge dome pistons 9.3: 1 compression.

The engine has been converted to EFI using Tony's kit (Bitzracing). It has 42mm headers and a Dansk 2 in 2 out sports muffler. Everything else is stock.

I'm NOT considering a top end rebuild at this point - only cam swap. This is a 95% road car, and will see very little track time. I'm fully aware of the potential risks by not changing valve springs etc. I'm not aiming for a 8000rpm 300hp monster, but rather a sleeper pocket rocket. Hp aim right now is about 240-250 at the crank. Car weighs 2100lb so should be good fun.

I know the 964 cam will work with the MM pistons. But how about 20/21 grind or a DC20? Will S cams work or are they not compatible with the wedge domes? Which would you recommend for this engine and my road going sports purpose?

Thanks

Martin

Best person to address this would be John Dougherty at DRCamshafts

Dougherty Racing Cams

I chose 964 Cams with my new 98 Cylinders and Custom CP Wedge Pistons (MM style) Motronic system single plug

I guess it's the most common choice. Why did you choose this particular cam?

On my 3.4 with Motronic, 9.8:1 MM, single plug, I have 20/21 cams. If I recall correctly, max horse power comes on at slightly higher point than 964 (6500 rpm vs. 6000), but makes a little more power. Pretty similar, though. Nonetheless, the 20/21 works great for me.

Dc20 now superseded by 993ss i believe? I run dc20 in my single plug 3.4 on 98mm Mahle - soon to be replaced by something more 'hirsute' as also moving to ITBs

I had an opportunity to obtain a 30K mile cams plus I did not want any issues with idle.
