Oil pump small nuts... Loctite?
Checked and reassembled my oil pump. The 4 small nuts holding it together didn't seem to have any loctite on there from the factory...
Figured it couldn't hurt... You guys use the blue? Red? None? Thanks, and merry Christmas! |

loctite
I have never seen Loctite used from the factory.The pump is well secured at 3 points so probably not much movement for load happening.Ciao Fred

If you're worried use the Red Loctite. It can always be nullified with heat.

I don't think it would be a bad idea to use loctite on those nuts. I used blue loctite on mine.
BTW, a friend of mine had to rebuild his motor after those nuts came loose on his SC motor.....

When they're first put to together with new bolts at the factory I feel confident in them assembled with no loctite, or however they did it.
With older used pumps and bolts I'd feel better with a little loctite on the pump housing bolts. You know they won't come loose. |

Trackrash said all you need to know . Use red loctite . The nuts do not seem very tight on original pumps I have disassembled . I use red loctite . I think tightening the nuts too tight will distort the pump . I like 60 in/lbs .

I am Trackrashe's friend that had the nuts loosen on my SC pump. I bought a brand new, later pump. I removed the 4 nuts and red Loctited them!
