2.7 camshaft selection
I recently increased my 1973 2.4l to 2.7l with non-rs pistons etc. I have a set of early Solex 109-110 cams which have too much overlap to run with C.I.S. Any suggestions on cam selection for this combo. Also, I have a set of 16x6 Fuchs for the front of my 911 & 16x7 for the rear. What's the biggest tire I can run on the rear without any clearance problems. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, Craig.

As long as you are using standard CIS pistons, your choice is CIS 2.7 cams. Not having done it, installing 3.0/3.2 cams should work too but you ll need cam carriers to go with the later cams.

I Once had a 2.7 with CIS stock pistons with a 964 grind. Seem to pull hard. I ran it with carbs and port and polished heads.

I don't know why you couldn't get your cams reground to something equivalent to what the SCs and Carreras had.
In the rear I know that some have shoehorned 225s on the rear. Those might rub, depending on your alignment settings, ride height, actual tire size, and bead rolling however.

You can consider the 2.7 CIS 'S' camshafts. I picked up a set to use in my 2.4 CIS rebuild.

I bought a set of SC-grind cams (3 lobe)for 2.7 CIS pistons for my rebuild, but had to get new pistons when my build went from a cam-swap to a full on rebuild.
PM me if interested, they are good cams, just couldn't use them anymore. Or if you'd like a 2nd set to send out for regrind, I have a set of stock '77 2.7 cams too.
