James, you're going to have the heads, cam carriers, and cylinders off so careful inspection of everything will give you a clue as to the condition of the bottom end. If you pull the rods you can inspect the crank journals and rod bearings without splitting the case, but you can't see the intermediate shaft bearings and those probably need replacing at your mileage. I believe I would go ahead and do the full overhaul.
