Potential Next Project - G50 based Cabriolet TT
As some here may know, I sold my '72 T w/ short stroked 3.2 MFI motor, that I had worked on for a few years, to a fine fellow at one of the better Porsche shops here in San Diego. So sorry to see it go, but life sometimes dictates such.
I have been thinking, ever since, about my next project since I may now be able to approach (read "fund") such a project.
I think I will look for a G50 based 87-89 Cabrio to build upon.
1) Backdate the Cabrio to a '72; all chrome trim, rockers, rear view mirrors, bumpers, lights and a '72 oil fill door on the passenger rear flank;
2) Polished paddle Fuchs and rubber to fill the wells;
3) Twin turbo (993?) motor and twin intercoolers . . . with no tail (very important issue!)
Q: Can the i-coolers fit at the side of the motor above the rear wheel wells with a Ruf Yellowbirdesque NACA duct above said wells?
I am very resolute re the "no tail" issue and was wondering if there is any possible way to do this??
This will be a street only car. Suspension mods will be needed but nothing radical. I think a "simple" Big Red conversion will do the trick re brakes.
The G50 should be up to the power and gearing should be fine.
I think this project needs mucho aesthetic work (and some body work) and a lot of engine/intercooler placement "work".
So, can this be done or am I dreaming once again?
TIA!
BR,
Kurt
