Sure it's retrievable, just depends on how lucky you get fishing for it. About 2-3 years ago I read a post by a guy (maybe on Rennlist?, Porschelist?, Porschefiles?) who spent the better part of an afternoon fishing for and retrieving his dipstick ... THEN he found out it could have stayed in the tank without causing a problem AND he could have bought a new one for about 10 bucks. It was an amusing story.
