The Tiguan already had more torque than it could handle in FWD.
They put almost no effort into the US Tiguan for the entire run, pretty much just shipping euro cars. And that's what sold me on it, although I'm in the minority of car buyers on that stance. It's a pretty niche market for a small, effeminate, decent driving SUV with no brand status. I can't blame them for wanting to make it more appealing to the US market, although I doubt I'll even drive one when looking for my next car.
