After working on this with my 75 1.8 FI for a long time and replacing the Vacuum advance canister I noticed mine getting to about 32 degrees at 3500. This is shown on the picture below. When I hok up the vacuum advance I get about 40 degrees. So I have just plugged my advance hose and I feel the engine runs better and cooler.
