Tire Alignment Issue

I have a 2001 BMW 325 ci convertible with 80,000 miles. Over past five years I have lost 4 tires due to excess rubbing (down to fabric structure) on the inside of the rear wheels.

Car has never been in an accident, and I have it serviced regularly. I have had the car aligned professionally at the time of each servicing, as well as following each tire episode.

Purchased four new tires one year ago. Just lost the fifth tire this weekend; the AAA mechanic suggested that it's almost certainly an alignment problem.

Any suggestions? Are there particular tires I should avoid when replacing? What, specifically, should I ask when I take it to the shop?

Has the car been lowered? If so, you'll need to install a set of adjustable lower control arms to dial the rear camber back into spec.

Tire Alignment

How do I tell if it has been lowered?

Get a picture of the car, I'll tell you. A picture of the springs and shocks would help as well.

Also, check the camber of the rear wheels. Is there negative camber on the rears only?
