Changing front struts,,,,help needed

I have a broken front strut on my 87 535. I am not sure how to do this, I have the general idea and have the equipment to do it with..yep I bought a spring compressor. Any helpful hints would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks in advance

hvacguy, Do you have any other damage? Is the spring broken? Check the sway bar, idiler arm etc. You need to take in the car for alinement after you've done the dead. It is actually easy, but very dangerous. Use two jacks one to lift the lower control are and one to lift the car. KEEP YOUR FACE OUT OF THE WHEEL WELL. I know a Guy with a hair lip and false teeth from a Camaro.

Remove the wheel.
Jack up the lower arm.
Unbolt the upper bolts and lower bolt.
lower the jack on the control arm, raise the jack on the car.
Install spring on new strut, compress and band with LARGE tie wraps.
Lower arm, install, bolts, cut tie wraps.
Do it again on the other side.
KEEP YOUR FACE OUT OF THE WHEEL WELL
