Squeaking noise

OK.. this is driving me crazy.

I have a 95 (early 95) 540i. It has an intermittent squeaking that seems to come from the right front brake. It changes speed with the car, and sometimes with a change in direction.

I have replaced the front rotors and pads (twice) the front wheel bearings, the tires (probably not relevant) and rebuilt the whole front suspension. I have pulled it apart multiple times, and still can't find the source of that damn squeak!

Anyone have this same problem?

Describe it more.

Only when braking? Constant while in motion? Over bumps? A scraping, a rattling? how do you know it from the brake? How about in reverse?

It is a constant squeal that changes pitch as the car changes speed. It sounds just like a brake pad squeal. It stops when the car stops.

I have rotated the tires, and it didn't help.

Just gonna throw out a few ideas:
Metal splash guard behind the rotor
Foreign object in the area of the ABS sensor

Tranny itself
Foreign object rubbing the drive shaft

Does it make the noise if you spin the wheel in the air?

I have had the wheel and rotor off multiple times. I can't get it to squeak up on the lift.

When I pulled the hub and replaced the bearings I didn't see anything around the ABS sensor... but its possible I missed something.

I never though of the driveshaft... I am going to have to get it up in the air and take a look, just as soon as my 914/6 is off the lift.
