Help - Clutch Replacement
I can hear the throwout bearing in my clutch whining each time I step on the pedal in my 2001 E39 530i with 150,000 miles. Clutch has never been replaced since new.
Since I am leaning on keeping this car until the new 2009 5 Series is available, I am considering replacing the clutch assembly and doing the job myself. Is the process essentially the same as described in the Pelican 3 Series clutch replacement technical article? http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/techarticles/E36-Clutch_Replace/E36-Clutch_Replace.htm Are there any major differences?

I would expect it to be fundamentally the same. I cant think of anything on the 3's clutch that is model specific.
