Jump Starting - Location of Alternate Positive Battery Terminal
I drained my battery down this afternoon when I left the ignition key on while changing my front brakes. So, I had the opportunity to jump start the '02 525i for the first time. With the battery in the trunk, BMW has placed a secondary positive battery post specifically for jumping on top of the engine toward the firewall and driver's side. The owner's manual states the cover over this positive terminal is red and market with a "+". Turns out, my cover is BLACK with the "+" indication. So, if you are scratching your head like me wondering where this "+" terminal is, look on top of your engine cover close to the firewall and to the driver's side. Seems obvious but only after finding it once.
