DSP Upgrade

I bought a '97 540iA about 6 months ago. It's the first BMW I've owned and I'm very happy with it. It has the standard stereo with a CD changer and I would like to upgrade to the DSP if possible. Is this rocket science or a simple plug in. I understand that the CD interface may be different. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
