BMW Roundel purchasing a 740i, questions

well im a usual on the other side of this site, as i own a porsche, but i went to the bank earlier and i got some money out so i can go buy a car in the next few days. ive had my eye on a local owned '95 740i, very clean drives great and exactly what im looking for, but what i was wondering was;

1-the car isnt without any problems, the first one is the power seat/steering wheel adjustments are in operable, what i mean is, i cant adjust anything on the seat, and i cant raise/lower/move the wheel (other than basic turning functions) is this a relay, or fuse, just something else simple (hopefully) or am i taking a chance that every one of the motors has been burnt out?

2-also does anyone know if there are any major problems with this perticular car that i should look out for?

this will be my first BMW but by far not my first "car" so dont worry about explaining anything in lamens terms, i can handle the real stuff

im also unusualy excited about this purchase... and i dont know why... but you probably cant help with that

also while im thinking about it, another thing is; how costly is replacing the whole dash stereo and climate control unit, actually i really dont want to replace it all, its just that some of the l.e.d.s arent lighting up so you really cant see whats going on in some of the spots

thanks any help is great

1995 740

Teh biggest problem in the '94-'95 era was the NIKASIL engine (high suphur content fuel in this country wreaked havoc with many of these engines to the point that BMW extended warranty and even replaced engines with a ALUSIL engine)> Go to KOALAMOTORSORT.com and check out this problem.

Parking Light

Is key in the on position when you have this issue? If parking light is on (indicator or the acual light?), what position is turn signal lever and do you have the actual parking light on.

Answer these and we will go from there.

no the keys off, and out of the car. this is the indicator located next to the shift boot. the turn signal is in the off position as well

Parking Indicator

I think I was confused, is this the "P" selection on the gear shift indicator on shifter console?

"P" indicator

Here is what my Buds at ROADFLY say: Normal for 15-30 minutes after shutdown, check to see if it really never goes off (after 30 minutes).

ahhh, actually last night i did "sneak" up on the car and, yes it was off, i guess i just thought it was on all the time because when you unlock the car it also comes back on. so basicly anytime i was around the car= it was on

Park Light

Ah, yes. The longer you own the car the more strange things you will discover about it. I do not believe that even Klaus (my generic Bavarian) the builder knows everything that goes on in his cars.

740il

Check fuses 42 and 43 (under rear seat in rear power distibution box) and replace if necessary. Also in front power distribution box (under hood) check fuses 17/20/21.
