e32 parking light problem :HELP

Suddenly my right front and my right rear parking lights both stopped working at the same time. Either at same time, or a couple days earlier my dash board lights and light of the AC controls etc (at night) also not working, im not sure exactly when dash issue began because I only drove in daylight for a couple of days. There is a "parking light error".

I removed the mustard relay and the LKM and redid the solder joints carefully, then put back into car. I still get "parking light" error and the lights dont work on R front and R rear. The left parking lights work fine in front and back.

Other issue is brake light doesnt go on when brake is pressed, I replaced the brake light switch, it appears by voltmeter no power going to brake light switch.

Any advice, this problem sucks cause I cant drive the car much given this errors .

thanks

update

Clarification: I actually had two problems, 1 chronic + 1 new. I fixed the chronic one (brake lt circuit)
for a long time I got "brake lt circuit error", it wasnt until recently instrument cluster became completely dim and I get R sided parking brake lights not working (with parking light error). I tried replacing those bulbs and this didnt fix it.

I also used to get a "brake lt circuit" error
it seems after I
1) replaced brake light switch (under brake pedal)
2) took apart and resoldered LKM and Mustard relay my "brake lt circuit" error went away

I did all the above since they are high failure items anyhow

BUT after all this I still have "parking light" error, and right front and right rear parking lights dont work (in parking light or full headlight on mode).

My right and left blinkers, rear brake lights (both L + R) and hazard lights all work fine. My instrument cluster is still dim too.

parking light is usually the mustard relay
http://bmwe32.masscom.net/sean750/mustardRelay/mustardRelay.htm
but also check the bulbs and bulb holders, maybe they are corroded and the signal to the control unit is not good enough.
Check and resolder the mustard relay again.

LKM and mustard relay both very thoroughly resoldered

I get no error when I turn car on. When I switch parking light on, all parking lights work for about 1 second then Right sided lights go out. I discovered fuse 5 (or 6), (the one for "Right Parking Brakes") burns out.

Any advice or ideas? All other functions working perfectly (headlights, blinkers, hazard, etc)

might be a short, pull out the parking light and check the wires.

I have the same problem and did the exact same trouble shooting, still not fixed.

Did you ever get the issue resolved, if so, how?

Thanks

Help - parking light/instrument light/consule light problem

Hello, I am experiencing the same problem with right side parking lights with dash and consule lights also not working on my 1991 535i.

Has anyone solved this issue? I was thinking the dimmer may be at fault, but not sure how/why that would affect the parking lights. Could it be the light switch? LkM? Mustard relay?

Please help!
Thank you,
Almo

the dash/cluster lights are controlled by the dimmer switch.
That could be defective.
And the fuse.
Also check on the rear of the cluster the connectors.
The check control light at the bottom of the cluster is controlled via the light sensor in the cluster, not via the dimmer.

Light switch could be the problem for the parking light, I have seen some which had some burnt contacts. So open that also and check and clean if necessary.

mustard relay is always a suspect, if you have that on the e34, some do no have it with the low version cluster which was mainly used in Europe.

Cars without mustard relay have the function integrated into the LKM and in the place of a mustard relay there is just a simple relay with some bridges but no electronic part.
