Hi Wayne, living in Oz I have a RHD 85 E24 M6 which has developed a blower problem,in that when ignition is on it is running at around half speed. The rotary dial will make it increase to full but turning it off will still have it running at around half speed. This happened after an elec burning smell & wisps of smoke out of the bonnethood air intakes. Do look for whatever is amiss on the left side of the vehicle, and what do you suggest I replace.

It's hard to suggest what to replace, expecially if there was a short. I would start with inspecting the blower motor resistor and the blower motor. The biggest challenge is finding the source of the smoke.
