Still need help
Earlier this week I asked about a strange bolt on the alternator of a 2003 745li.
At the time, I had no idea if it was a torx,allen or something else. Since then I have gotten a clear picture, and it is threaded where the wrench would normally fit into, I think it's a 8mm that threads in? Does anyone have any idea how to remove this bolt? ![]() here's a picture of what it looks like. |

I'm thinking that is not a bolt to remove.

If I am right, that is part of the pulley system for the serpentine belt and it is attached, not to the alternator, but to a bracket (5 o'clock position in the photo?). You have to remove the bracket to get it out of the way.
You may have to go at it from under the car. I'm just not sure.
