Trying to Install Cyclops LED on an '04

Has anyone here successfully replaced the stock headlamp with a Cyclops LED? That is, without major modifications.

I installed a Cyclops LED on my GS and love the improved lighting. Cylcops claimed it's 10.0 H4 bulb would be a snap to install but I've been hitting my head against the wall trying to figure it out.

Thanks, in advance, for any advice.

2004 R1100S uses an H1 bulb for the low beam (dip) ,
and an H7 bulb for the high beam.

The regular halogen bulb that came with the bike are a safety hazard, but back then HID and LED technology
was not like today.

You will not see where you are going when riding faster than 35 MPH using the low beam halogen bulb.

Yes, but not an H4. Should be an H1 and H7. Some info here-

Anyone Using the Cyclops CIL-LED-H7 H7 4000 lumen LED Headlight bulb

You might need these for the back of the housing.

I'm still running the LED referred to in RB's link above with zero problems. That particular one is no longer listed but there are others with the internal ballast so you don't have to find room in the housing for it.

Sorry, my bike is actually an '03 BCR... my goal is to improve the lighting/visibility with as little modification as possible. Also, I should mention I'm about as mechanically inclined as a goldfish. The rep at Cyclops assured me I was buying the correct bulb but now I'm considering returning it... the improved safety may not be worth the hassle.

Thanks for all the advice so far... Keep it coming.

I am using a H1 Cyclop for the high for years now, it works good.

I'm still using a cheap DDM HID for the H7 low that is soldiering on years after years, no bulb color-shift yet (thing it's been some 10 years or so). Beware that DDM quality has tanked in recent years. Both ballast and bulbs have failed me on my car shortly after the warranty ends.

Does the bulb you took out of the motorcycle look like the bulb you are trying to install ?
Compare the metal part right below the glass.
If it looks different, it will not fit.
The Cyclops web site shows both an H4 and an H1
bulb.

Finally a question I have the answer to. Last year I upgraded both the low and high beam halogen bulbs with the Cyclops LED bulbs. The only modification was to replace the stock low beam rubber housing dust cover with a taller one. The stock dust cover was slightly pushed out by the LED bulb fan housing causing me some worry of overheating the LED fan. The high beam dust cover is ok.

The replacement dust covers RBMann mentioned in post #4 would probably do the trick and look like what I used. But measure yours to be sure.

Does that align the bulb in the correct position? I would of got the correct LED with an internal ballast & skipped the cutting/silicon thing all together. Hope it works for you.

Previous owner installed a heated seat so I wanted to rip out the wiring. Also, I installed a battery tender. PITA
