UPDATE:-
Spoke to Angelo on Sunday and he would like to send thanks to everyone who wished him well, he is still feeling very sore and is easily drained, he is also still hobbling around on crutches from a badly bruised left calf. Clearly he hit the ground very hard and is very lucky to have escaped so 'lightly'. The mechanics could not find any mechanical fault/parts failure with the S. It looks like the impact with the road (possible cartwheel) has torn the rear drive from the swingarm. Because Angelo can not remember anything at all from the accident, he is having a hard time coming to grips with events. It may be some time before he gets back onto two wheels again and it may not be a BMW. I hope time will heal and he once again returns to the great world of motorcycle riding. Thanks to all who reponded to the post. Cheers TREVOR

Most people involved in serious accidents have extremely confused recollections of the event.
My thoughts are with him and trust he'll recover fully. - Mark |

Sometimes its tempting to blame one's equipment by default - it's important to objectively guage the evidence before making a judgement, especially in a serious case like this.

About the only thing Angelo remembers at the time of the accident was the bike 'fishtailing' before being luanched over the bars and also maybe due to the damage done to the housing of the final uni-joint in the swing arm.
I sure would like to see some pics - I have been told it is a write-off. But with Insurance Companies there are write-offs and there are WRITE-OFFS. I suspect that Angelo's bike is in the second category. It certainly was a talking point when in the bike shop - "You mean to say the rider did not die in THAT accident" Cheers TREVOR
