they didnt even need this one back?
|
Excellent Ducati Rider, I know an even bumpier road we can go on, out of Cambria.....
I stopped this weekend for a bicycle rider with a flat this past weekend- they stopped for us , i'll stop for them |
Santa Rosa Creek Rd...holy cowpie that has become one nasty bumpy road since the rains this past year. I had to pull a Harely rider out of a ditch on the way back from Laguna on that road. He literally got jarred right off by all the tar strips and pavement surges. Good test for suspension, that's for sure. What a shock to hit the last part of the road past hwy 41 with all new pavement. Thought you'd died and gone to heaven. :)
If you like that road you should try Drum Canyon outside of Buelton... |

lmberger is just like BMW of NA a F***ing joke!

I'm with Roger A on this one:
He put it very clearly what it feels like to have one of these fail. "A couple guys had the things drop under their wheel. OF COURSE knickers were twisted." It was my initial experience of failure and thread on this board that led to the heads-up about this hugger. Mine was replaced after quite a bit of song and dance with the importer. I even got the "we've never heard of that before" line when it was clear, even from the knowledge of this board that the real story was something different. I put the replacement hugger on my bike for a month or two then thought......what am I doing? I took it off my bike and shelved it for good. No amount of money could get me to ride with one of those on my bike. When I was looking for a hugger for my 12GS needless to say I stayed way far away from this maker's product. Just my two cents. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/pyth.gif |
Roger if you don't like the Ilmberger hugger for what ever reason it's your choice not to use one, over the years i've bought plenty of aftermarket goodies that i wasn't happy with,i have either chucked e'm in the bin or not used e'm.
Unfortunately with the ever present internet it provides people with a stage to be very dramatic, the majority of which can be put down to the couple of thousand miles between us and you lot, when i'm skiing in Europe nowhere days find the resorts full of Americans, which i find very strange, bareing in mind the great pistes you have in the states, without exception always get the same answer to get away from all the restrictions and redtape that we don't have over here. If people don't like e'm thats fine by me,but when i had a problem found them, curtious, efficient, and helpfull, shame you don't live more local i'd be round to buy it of you if i need a spare!!!!! Chris |
Chris....you're too late.... I already gave it away for free. BTW I thought my language on my old thread was very neutral and factual. I guess how you feel about the experience depends alot on whether and how yours failed. eg. just disappeared on a ride, or, as mine was, jammed the rear wheel producing an undesired instant braking. Luckily it was on a relatively straight patch and I managed to get the bike stopped upright. Don't like to think about the other scenarios though. Cheers. :)

bradzdotcom caused electrons to form:
<snip> the only thing i've been doing to mine besides eyeballing it often as a suspected/potential murderer is to keep the oxidation off the surface. it first appears as a white cloudy look on the surface, and you can knock it off with the right chemicals and a cloth. (watch, now mine will implode tomorrow, 'cause i mentioned it). Saaay... just what kinda chemicals are you talkin' about, [ winkwink ]...? I'm interested.... jeff |
Chris.
Glad they were courteous to you. Doesn't help those of us they hosed in the least. It's not a case of being dramatic. A good deal of people that bought their product were not taken care of, even after repeated attempts at resolving it with the importer and the home office. We're as free to relay that as you are you inadvertent good service :) |
""""" We're as free to relay that as you are you inadvertent good service"""""
Roger - I don't know what your problem is......and really don't care, but there's a concept in life called Karma. It means .....you get back what you put out. I treated them with respect and I was courteous and that's what I got back - it was not "inadvertent good service". Maybe if you'd stop being a whinner and so negative, maybe you have some good in your life. There's another concept which says there are no accidents, everything is by design and by purpose. Maybe you created your own luck with your hugger with you attitude. Think about it! TTFN |
My only problem is with with ignorant newbies Ducati-Rider. Or, you could be babbling about stuff you don't have any real information or insight on, which pretty much seems to be the case. What information do you have that I didn't try to resolve it, multiple times, before becoming upset? None, that's what. You're just talking out your ass. You clearly don't know the history of the importer here lying to multiple people. You have the cart before the horse beavis. The whining came after the crap service. I'm reporting a negative experience. In my business, I do treat people right. I try not to jump to conclusions either. You'd do well to do the same before lecturing anyone on Karma, or anything else. The stupidity of your assertion baffles me. That I somehow got a bad vibe about my hugger, and therefore it then failed and then wasn't addressed? What sort of non-causal reality devoid of design or purpose do you live in?

Is it the 'importer' or Ilmberger that you had difficulties with ? (I'm not sure what you meant when referring to the home office in earlier posting). As far as I'm aware Wunderlich are and were the official importer thru the delers in NA. Was it they that lied? Lloyd |
Ducati-rider
I can talk Karma with the best of them (was a Zen Master in a past life) but a positive attitude won't prevent mechanical breakdowns. Pure thoughts are helpful during repair but you still have to join the Greasy Hand Club to accomplish anything. Maybe if I had a stronger mind I could sit and put myself in the zone I want to be but the motorcycle ritual is the form I choose. Jim |
Hi Boxerpan.
No, to be clear, there was no problem with Wunderlich or the dealer that imports Wunderlich here. This goes back well before they were involved. The original US importer was some company ran by a guy named Mitch out in NJ. No problems with the current importer. Don't want anyone to think they've been bad. As the other Roger said, Mitch and Co. told multiple people that they'd never heard of a failure before. Those are the lies I refer to. As for the home office, that refers to Ilmberger in Germany. When their importer failed to take care of people here and in fact bailed on the entire operation, they didnt' respond to requests for replacement or refund either. No response at all twice, and a "we'll get back to you" one, and then no response again on the 4th time. I even wrote letters in both German and English the last time. I understand no company wants to deal with a pain-in-the-ass, so I was totally mellow and constructive throughout. I eventually just gave up. I don't feel a need to be mellow in maligning the service or product. |

yep, better living through chemicals. the company is called One Grand and although they're ventura-based, they are the 'official' supplier of vehicle prep materials to the royal family in england. (don't know what that's worth, if anything). i found them while researching a book on professional auto detailing. lots of the really high end guys (4~8k car detailing jobs) use their stuff. http://www.onegrand.com/ for all the carbon fiber stuff on the bike, i use (in order): Special touch (to get the milky oxidation off the top of the clear coat. Omega glaze (to make the parts look "wet"). Blitz wax: to make them stay looking wet and keep oxygen from coming in contact with the CF. drag along some of that "show-off" spray stuff in case of a sudden need to spit-shine, and yer good to go. they make good products....many steps above what's available in auto part stores or pro auto detail supply shops. ugly website. good stuff. |
