Yes Braking rotors, fffffinally!
Apparantly its real hard to get them out of the distributor, quantities shown and production runs are lame as hell, call Robert in the parts dept at Santa Cruz, he is the only one so far that has come through for me on this item, he was able to source several sets, so get'm while you can.

Yes, tough to get.
My local Aprilia shop runs the Aprilia forums and a large 'net parts business and is normally well connected, but took forever to get mine. The distributor numbers aren't so accurate. Basically, I wouldn't believe anyone has them until they put them in my hand.
DK is pretty good with inventory, so somoene really should jump on that one.

hey acid, i think you're gonna like them. mine have been trouble-free since i slapped them on mucho miles ago.

i stayed away from the track-only pads and went with the hi-perf street guy pads on the front.
plenty o braking power. wider blade pressure range than stock bmw, more precise.
they seem to let go quicker too. don't know why. maybe it's the open spaces. beats me.

i went with the regular street pad in the rear, cause it's harder and less responsive. that gave me a little more brake pedal throw and range, cause rather than barely tapping it, you could actually put varying pressure on it and feel a difference.

the rotors still get pretty hot, but so far i've only been able to force the front to get "spongy" twice, and both times it was totally on purpose to see how well it recovered.

the empty space caused by the design seems to give just enough of a cooling effect to keep you from warping them.
i'd say they're good for about 20% past the oem mark on the street, so maybe about 30% better on the track.

enjoy 'em.

ps: oh yea, the sound they make when you squeee 'em is different and the feedback vibes you get through the grips changes too.

Sure next week when they show up, dont remember on the cashola, all i know is we got a good dealio with the Santa Cruz extra Santa 15% thing going on.
Let them do the part numbers too many conflicting sotries so now they are responsible if its wrong, or of course correct which i expect it to be.
I have the Ti bolts on the bench waiting.

Thx Brad, realy looking forward to this mod.
Will weigh the new vs stock also.

rear disc 820g vs stock 880g

I wrote the front down somewhere too, but can't find it at the moment. Probably on a post-it somewhere that hasn't yet founds it's way into my main notebook.

the high falootin' rotors don't have a tendency to warp.
i went through two sets of stock OEM rotors, then got the braking rotors.
end of problem.

and they stop bettah too.

Acid,
Robert said that I'll have mine on Monday.
$185 less 15% from Santa.
They were 169 but the Euro/$ changed.
Remember that Wunderlich has the world rights to Braking rotors for BMW and BMW of Watsonville is the USA distributor.
That means that if you get it from somewhere else you will pay twice as much.
BTW this is the first time I have EVER bought something is cost less for a BMW than a Jap bike.
GSXer wavey rotors cost $295 each.
Such a deal
jeff

I'm not as hard on brakes as Dr. Brad, but you guys got me thinking... Perhaps I should install Braking rotors when I have to replace the stock rotors; do the upgrade then. (According to my dealer, factory rotors are $185 each). With Braking rotors not being immediately available, putting them on would require some planning ahead to have them on ready five.

Since I have 29K on the original rotors, seems safe to assume their replacement will be based on them falling below the minimum allowable thickness (or warping as they get thinner). I think I'm pretty easy on brakes; what sort of lifespan should I expect from the stock rotors?

Do these rotors bolt right on, or are any mods required?

Will these rotors work with EVO ABS?

Too bad Steve...when I saw you were interested I called and got the last set. They should have more in about 6 months from now.

Actually, there has been a big demand probably from interest around here and most will have to be ordered. You have the right idea about using these for normal replacement parts. Better these than OEM. My bike has almost 50K on the original rotors. I'm going for these before Braking stops making them for a discontinued bike.
