FYI, I just sent a message to BMW NA using the link that pwillikers supplied. I basically just told them how great a rider Nate is and how nice a guy he is and that they should consider some financial/mechanical assistance to him considering what a great ambassador he is for BMW.
Nate, I don't want to pry but based on your last couple of posts, are you not racing for Main Line anymore?

Hey thanks guys, I know for sure how it sounds and I am trying to use tact and just realize that I am in a position to win, it may not be as easy, but I am sticking it out. I cannot afford a lapse in resume and if there is something for next season, that is next season. Right now I want to try and stop chasing the mice in my head and get back to the ol' Nate.
I have been pretty good at just doing waht I can with what I have, but now I have no mechanics (even at the shop). We have one tech left and customer bikes have always been my priority over racebikes. Actually, what has been bothering me is that I have used the passive aggressiveness of other racers and what they say about getting beat by a BMW in stride and use it as fuel, but I guess with everything else going on I have been, yes I am admiting it, a bit sensitive, lol. I want to win, nothing makes me ahppier than seeing the enjoyment of BMW motorcycle owners faces knowing that they rode in on the same motor or close to. If you guys were not supporting me and or BS'ing with me at the track, no one would talk to me there. I was told by this kids dad that I have an X on my back, all they talk about on the way to the track is how not get beat by the BMW... So I guess Im the bad guy for making it happen, but I really just dig OUR crowd and the fun they have with it. I am pushing very hard with BMW to get the cam carrier with the correct cam in it for our 1st R12S. It has a 2 lobe GS cam in it and not 3 lobes, but it STILL RUNS!!! crazy... Barber is imperative for me to get a very strong hold of the regional pro championship, but it is a "Twin Sprint" weekend along with the National Thunderbike. SO, are you ready... Twin Sprint weekends allow racers to do double the schedule. So I am looking at 8 LW class races and 4 Unlimited class races (doubled) it is the same schedule from Sat. as Sun. and qualifying for the National and the National race. So it look slike 13 races and I need tire management. That consists of someone counting and documenting how many laps on a set and see if we can get away with some more laps on them if there is no one to change the wheels. Also tire pressures hot. Very very important. I bake the tires to 175 degrees and then set them 32 front 29 rear. But air temp dictates tire pressure. fro every 10 degrees rise in air temp tire pressure goes up about 1.2 lbs. So from morning practice to afternoon races it could go up 20 plus degrees. Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I want to defend my # 1 plate and get the BMW in a position to possibly win a National championship in Buell's face. Ok gang, have a good one and I need to get o the bike (mt. bike and train). HUGE thank you to Carlos (Bigscience) and Peterr (Peter, lol), and Peterr friend Chris for helping me load the race trailer at the end of the weekend. Hope the tubes are working out Carlos?! I just remembered thos were mine from the Boxer Cup season and there are 4 more sets here at the shop BMW gave me from Germany. n8 |

If they're talking about not getting beat by a BMW, they're already psychologically nervous. Exploit that. Get 'em pisssed beforehand so they'll make a mistake in the heat of anger.
A good bumper sticker: 'hark, is that a Buell running or just a toilet flushing?'

I'm pretty sure we'll have barber covered for you Nate, just give me a ring when you want the details. Perhaps you want to swing by Atlanta a day early for some maintenance?

When will N8 be at Barber? Bobby, you planning a ride out there? Nate, what kind of support do you need in the Pits that regular guys can carry on their bike? Drinks? That kind of thing.

I'd pitch in gas money for gigantic to ride down and be N8's umbrella girl. That visual alone should knock at least a 1/2 second off those on the grid with him. This can be a effective tool, I saw Dave Rosno in fishnets at the wegman benefit last year and it made me ill.

Don't be down, Nate! I was at a friend's 4th party, along with the guy who helped build his Thunderbike Buell, and they were both telling me about meeting you at Daytona this year and what a great guy you are and how much they respect your riding. Michael finished a few spots behind you in a CCS race down there before his motor blew up practicing for ASRA. He got beat, but considered it such a personal accomplishment to keep you in sight that he said he could retire right then with no regrets.
Perhaps unfortunately, however, my offer of a steak dinner for 2 if he ever beats you still stands, so he's saving the new motor for ASRA next year. Maybe you'd have a little smaller x on you if I'd quit tempting the "Will race for food" crowd.

LOL, you guys are a trip. I apreciate the good words/will. Just a funk I guess we all go through. Just got in from a rather long mt. bike ride and its refreshing to get back and see the fun here.
AS for Barber, it will by far be the most imoprtant weekend. They all are, its just this one offers the chance for double the points through double the races. I know our bike is up for it. I have placed to calls to Foter RAD for info on Laser exhausts. Thye are imperative for staying off the over rev. The wind noise in my helmet is louder than the bike... I look forward to seeing everyone at Barber that can make it. I dont wnat everyone to think I m totally helpless, but Bobby had a chance to see what it take sot run up front and thats a team. From setting pressures hot, to fuel, to wiping down a visor, to recording lap times/laps on a set of tires. You could nix a couple of those things, but they dont get you any closer to the front when you cant see through your visor and or pushing hard thinking you only 18 laps on a set of tires and finding out the hard way the it was the set with 45 laps on them and were accidentaly put on the wrong rims. I have to get through Shennandoah first then we can set our sites on an endurance weekend at Barber. I cant thank Vanson Leathers, Suomy Helmets, House Industries, Team Pro Motion Sportbike Club, and BMW NA fr the continued support. Oh yeah, the more I think of it, I will not have a motor in time for Barber on teh K12R, so I will run the R12S against all the litre bikes for some fun! N8! |
