Just purchased a 2004 1100s and have some questions

I just purchased a 04 1100s and after riding about 75 miles in the cold new hampshire weather I have some questions.

I love the ride but found the rider position a little cramped. The position w/ the stock seat seems to push me forward w/ putting extra pressure on my wrists. Is there a after market seat that would remove the forward tilt in the seat?

I was wondering if they make a foot peg lowering kit and if anyone has a recommendations?

What are some of the other comfort modifications I should e thinking about over the winter?

Thanks.

Peg lowering; Suburban Machinery makes one.
Rapid Dog barbacks for a more upright bar position.
Sargeant, Corbin,etc make seats.
Search any of these on here for more info.

Hello gcornellier,

do a forum search on after market seats, there are several options, and differing opinions. I have a Corbin, and is provides a flatter seat and helps me from sliding forward. I have heard Sargent is really good, and there are several custom makers including Bill Mayer and Rick Mayer. There are also seat covers that can help with the slide, although those i've only heard about with the passenger slide problem.

Also, search on bar backs, which can be bought from a guy (Rapid Dog) on the board. I have them too, and help a lot, cause I'm kind of short and it helps with my posture and pressure on my wrists. rapiddog.net

The peg lowering I have not done, can't say if it is good or bad. I have heard the taller people really like it, but those who corner hard are critical because it can cause you to scrap earlier. suburbanmachinery.com

as far as other comfort modifications, you may want to consider moving out of New Hampshire, that should certainly improve comfort! j/k.

...my bike came with a sargent, but that pushes you forward as well... I switched to the Corbin, it is flatter and fits closer to the tank, but fairly uncomfortable when you are standing on a traffic light because the sides go out a little to far, overall it is much better than the Sargent though... in my humbled opinion, that is!

Some guys did custom jos to their seat and I belive Randy (Rapid Dog) das done an incredible job on his... including pictures to document it!

I would not lower the pegs as they scrape but try to get an 04/05 "Boxercup stock seat. It's taller and flatter so you get more "kneeroom" without loosing ground clearance.
Do you have the clipon on top of the triple clamps and the taller windshield already on your 04?If not they work really well and make the bike really comfortable at least for me if you don't have those items on your bike and find it still uncomfortable...;-)
What colour did you get?Have fun!

Thanks everyone for all your info. For those who asked, I got me one of those new 2004 leftovers kicking around. I had to put the bikes (harley roadking is the other bike) away today as we get snow tomorrow......
