Bob-

They have a $250 rebate on this lens to 3/20/10. That is what finally pushed me as I had never seen the 18-200 included in most of their deals.

As part of a deal with the camera? Can you get that rebate for just the lens?

It is with the purchase of any Nikon DSLR, plus $30 off the D5000. I even bought it locally and paid taxes.

Those ocotillo blooms are awesome. Borrego is such a nice place this time of year.
So you rip Montezumas and then head off to the bonnies?
I'm so jealous. Thats my kind of ride

They are pretty, but you don't want to accidentally go off track and hit one on a dual sport. Ouch, and I am speaking from experience.

Yes, Corky.... although, the desert (and the hills) was strewn with cops last weekend, when I came back home.

Rob, I have no intention to hit ANY kind of cactus at ANY time...

Sent you a PM on better learning sources than the manual no one reads...

Craig, would you be kind enough to send me these sources as well? Nikon or not... I'd like to forward them to my GF.

Thank you

Yes it is exciting, so much so that I took it to work yesterday to play with it. Too bad I forgot to bring the battery. Will try again today.

Target fixation?

I always say photography is about embracing and dancing with luck. Finding a two month old half eaten granola bar at the bottom of the camera bag miles from the nearest store proves my point.

I am in the middle of a huge learning curve withe new D5000. So many settings, so little time. And what the hell is a tripod, I keep hearing about? Still have not read the manual or checked out the links CK sent me.
