wanting correct helicoil size...
...for valve cover bolts. did a valve adj today (we ride tomorrow! 1st time since before the XMas blizzard) and replaced all the rubber (first time in 52,000 miles, and they were definitely due) gaskets. in putting back together, one retaining bolt would not torque down. chased the threads with a 5.0 x 1. metric tap, which slid right in like it belonged there, extracted some fine particulates, but it did nothing to allow the bolt to seat. figure i need a helicol (unless someone has a hot **** idea that is superior), and figure it's a 5.0 x 1., but the generally available size is either 5.0 x .8 or 6.0 x 1.
so- for someone whos BTBT- "been there, buggered that"- what didja use for the repair?
