There was some modifications done to the engine. BMW provided an erroneous reassembly spec. If the correct spec had been provided, the bike would have most certainly won the Moto-ST race convincingly. Going into more detail might reveal the nature of the modification. Not so hard to understand, is it?

Ah, now it's making more sense .. obviously a modification is something to keep close to the chest .... but that wasn't let on before when it was believed a stock motor failed because of faulty specs from BMW ... people didn't think that should be kept secret.

Well, now that you explain it in clear terms, even a humble bookkeeper like myself understands. Well done, Steve.

Hey Bob, When you get a bit older and forget more things about your R12S let me know. I might have the answer for you. :)

Steve, very well put.

Intrestingly enough, the mod made was an amazingly minor tweek. The incorrect spec still held together thru three races, countless practice laps and something like 98 laps in to the Moto ST.

The R1200S is an amazingly good bike, better than most are aware of.
