Natchez Trace

The Trace is about 400 miles long and runs between Natchez, MS and Nashville, TN. You may wish to consider working some of it into your route either coming or going. Have fun.

I screwed up this post was supposed to go under the "Eastbound & Down" thread. Sorry for the clutter.

B O R I N G.....
Last count I think they are up to 7 curves in 400 miles. Or is it 400 cops every 7 miles?
One of those curves is being reconsidered but 7 will be the official count. Someone on the state highway committee thinks 7 is a lucky number.
:-}

It's a great route for a Harley parade or a Gold Wing XC. It's even boring in a SUV with DVD. We avoided it like the plague when I was in college at Ole Miss.

It was the quickest (read: most direct) route to Jackson Airport while I was working in Oprah Winfrey's hometown, Kosciusko, MS (I only know because they kept telling me). 60 miles of federally-enforced 45mph speed limit, IIRC. Beautiful canopies made for a nice shady drive, but at a painstaking pace.

starting in nashville there are 10 miles of solid curves, first time i got a knee down was on the trace. i regularly rip it up at 65+, and ive seen nary a trooper. the biggest problem is the family suv and low flying turkeys. After the 1st 10 miles it is a chore to stay awake ill admit it sucks after that, but that first part lightens my heart every time. if you are ever in nashville, check out the 1st 10 miles or so, and stop off at the loveless cafe. its sure to be a good time.

The Loveless cafe is a must. Their breakfast is simply number one in the state of Tenn. and the T shirts are great as well. The first miles of the trace are curve strewn...........and the rest is historical, beautiful, slow, and thought provoking especially if one is in a reflective mood. The oldest road in America...............this was a Indian freeway before the Spanish ever set up shop in St. Agustine.

So then we agree that Trace north of the Mississippi state line is the section to run. Dr. Curve, I said it was great for two up on a Gold Wing. Pop some Bach into the CD player and presto.
