New horn button

Anybody here besides me being driven crazy by the absurd placement of the horn button on the 1100s? Twice yesterday I went to use it and wound up getting the left directional instead of the horn. Not very effective to say the least. I was wondering if anyone found a way to mount an auxiliary horn button under the directional button, possibly using the open hole for the mirror stalks as a mounting point. Could just RTV it to the switch body too, but what ever would work, just wondering if anyone else out there has done this. Also what and where and how do I get at the wires for the button anyway?

Well some people may find it easy to learn, but in the almost 4 years I've had this bike I still have to THINK about where the horn button is, which wastes reaction time. For me, a button UNDER the left directional signal button would be far easier and faster to hit as my thumb is usually there anyway. I guess 20 years of owning Japanese bikes has gotten me programmed to the extreme, although I did have a K75 S for two years. What I really need to know is which wires to tap into to get to the horn relay. Could it possibly be the small bundle that is zip tied to the main bundle coming from the left signal pod?

Anybody know?

I unplugged the *&%# thing long ago. Besides there's yoyo's out there who can't hear sirens so I don't expect them to hear a meager bike horn. I ride six different bikes on a fairly regular basis, horn button location varies a bit but the S is the worst.

what's a horn?
i've heard the sound the bike makes when you push that button.....it closely resembles a sheep being raped. (before you ask...jeff williams sent me his video...that's how i know what the sheep sounds like).

that "horn" button is as useless as those turn signal paddles.
i don't use 'em. ever. at all.

Brad, when your done with that video can you send it my way. I always knew Jeff had some kind of agricultural background.

I've ridden BMW's for long enough now that I am just used to the buttons. Although, I don't think my horn even works..or at least I know it's not going to be as effective as just holding on tight and try to avoid the trouble ahead.

Ironically, I had a chance (was asked to actually) to ride a new Harley Sport V-Rod that had similar turn signal paddles like the BMW's. There was a big difference in the way they worked which was very intuitive and so much better than the BMW's turn signals. One press on left or right turn signal paddle for turning and press again once on the same paddle to cancel. Doh...double Doh! Why the heck do we have to have a third button to cancel the turn indicator. Just press again to cancel. No need to remember anything.

BTW, that bike was very surprising. It almost handled well and the engine was very sweet. Super smooth and powerful. I wish I had that power and smoothness in a better package. Having that powerplant in a better handling chassis would be a really fun bike.

You know, basically you guys are right . In the time it takes to see if your horn has any effect, you would already be around or under the idiot that caused you to use it in the first place. It is just the occasional warning that I use it for, and that is when I hate the positioning. BTW I have an aftermarket horn , not the bicycle horn that came with the bike, so it doesn't sound like a stuck sheep.
