It "seems" to be a bit better. I don't know why. It's not that it's idling on 1 to 1.5 cylinders. It's more like a rough idle/cammy kind of thing. I tried disconnecting the O2 sensors and riding it. No change in the idle, and the bike didn't run as crisp. When I reconnected the O2's, I disconnected the battery for a few hours. The rough idle is still there, but it's better. It does not do it all the time, and it's just the idle that's affected. The bike runs strong when it's under any kind of load. Next time I'm at the dealer, I'll have them do a diagnostic and see if a fault comes up.

I'll keep you posted.

BTW, do you have a full exhaust system on your bike? I'm wondering if the full Remus on my bike might be related to this, i.e., different flow/backpressure dynamics.

Anyone else want to chime in here?

Wow,

Thats weird, for the first time ever this weekend, this happened on my 07 R1200s. I have just over 3k on the bike. TJS, I bought mine up at Greensboro shop, FYI. Never showed up before, but under load it does not seem to be a problem.

It is almost like it was firing in one cylinder every 1/2 second.

I am going to watch out for this.....but so far does not seem to be a big problem.

Robert -

Well, now it's 3 of us. Do YOU have an aftermarket exhaust on yours?

It just might be possible that the stronger running bikes do this. )

Ok, Make it four. I'm going to mention it to my dealer. Not an issue under load. But at idle it does seem to drop a cyl. occasionally.

Mine runs/idles just fine. I have the Remus headers and stock cans. Does this make it four?

…it only occurs when I have the bike in a 'low-rev-touring-mode'…
…after a faster highway trip, the bikes idles just fine…

NO!
It's a NEW feature in the BMW-K engine management system.
after a certain number of miles, you have to take the bike back in to have the PROM reflashed.
when the prom reaches a total of 13 flashes, you have to ashcan it and buy a new CPU.
Brilliant ploy on BMW's part. Brilliant! planned obsolesence at it's best!
just think of how many BMW-K boxes lenovo is going to build for them!
Gosh...I'll take FIVE new hexheads with BMW-K!!

make it six.

I thought I was the only one having this issue. I have the laser slipons. Sometimes it idles as if I am missing one of the cylinders. It runs normally when I rev it and the engine runs strong as ever.

Mine has the factory pipe, so apparently it does not have to do with some of you having an aftermarket pipe.

I don't remember which one, but "Rider" or "Motorcycle Condumer News" article on S reports rough idle typical of high lift cam that goes away under power.

tjs, are you offended by what I wrote? I was just stating where I bought it.

As to where I had it serviced for the .6k, maybe I would not of done that if the dealear I bought my bike at would have replaced the side panel that came damaged from the factory, I never heard back from the dealer on this issue.

I never commented or eluded to a problem with the PDI I got from your dealearship..........relax bro, I know and trust that you are a very good Tech, and helpful person as well.

I was simply stating I was experiencing the same issue as the other folks on this thread.

Cheers.

I've never had this problem. But my riding is immediately open and higher speeds for hours on empty open roads, without any stop and go traffic. So the engine is being run. I wonder if that makes any difference. Are the bikes loading up?

You obviously don't have the "race" cams that inadvertently came with our bikes. )

Except that I don't remember this condition early on. I feel better knowing it's not a "problem" on just my bike. It seems the problem is exactly the same for the few of us.

I would think that if this was the case, the engine would misfire under load, no?
